The Dunvegan is a Fire Restaurant with Rooms and a daytime Cafe & Deli-Shop. We’re passionate about food, drink, design & the environment, and since opening have created and are continuing to develop a relaxed informal space for people to enjoy exceptional food & drink with friends and family.
With a lifelong excitement for food and part of our family history having it’s roots in sheep farming in the Patagonia Region of Argentina, we have brought our passion for feasting, wine and cooking on fire to the food and drink we serve at The Dunvegan. We are dedicated to sourcing quality and sustainable ingredients from around the Highlands and across Scotland, to serve in dishes that showcase the amazing produce that can be found, without shipping it thousands of miles across the world.
We have six ensuite bedrooms which having received a brief makeover in July 2019 are constantly being improved in terms of the interiors and guest experience. The rooms have views across Loch Dunvegan or up to the hillside of the Millenium Stone, which itself looks over Loch Dunvegan and Macleods Tables.
Formerly known as the Dunvegan Hotel, the property was acquired in July 2019 by Tim & Blair Hunter Davies who have lived on the Isle of Skye since 2007. After a brief 2 weeks of essential renovation, The Dunvegan re-opened on the 1st August 2019, as a Restaurant & Cafe with Rooms.
After 5 promising months of trading in 2019 and closing for a brief kitchen renovation in Feb 2020 we re-opened our door with much excitement and anticipation to be closed just a few weeks later as the Covid pandemic turned the World upside-down. As did many, we spent many stressful months contemplating the future and with the help of furlough supported 20 members of the team. As restrictions eased and we planned our re-opening, we created a Deli / Shop / Refillery retail space as part of our ‘Bounce Back’ – rapidly bringing forward ideas we had had to share our love for Deli-food and environmentally friendly shopping – encouraging re-use, recycling and removing unnecessary plastic wherever possible.
Family is at the heart of our inspiration for The Dunvegan – family-run and family-inspired. We are privileged to have already attracted a fantastic core team of people to work with us. We are excited to collaborate with family-based producers and suppliers both on Skye and the West Coast of Scotland.
